Patentext is designed to help you go from idea to first draft with as little friction as possible. To begin, you’ll create a new application and walk through a short setup flow that collects the materials needed to generate your Invention Graph, which powers the rest of your drafting experience.

In this page

Step 1: Starting a new draft

Create from Grid view

In Grid view, click the last card in the grid to create a new application.

Create from List view

In List view, click the + New button in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Completing the Disclosure Wizard

Next, you’ll be taken to the Disclosure Wizard. This flow includes five steps.

Use Continue to move forward. Optional steps will show a Skip button until data is entered.

Docketing

Assign the application to a client and matter for organizational purposes.

This information appears later in Grid/List view and helps align with your internal docketing system.

Note: Once a matter and client are assigned, a new application is created, and an application credit will be deducted from your total. However, the credit is refundable if the application is deleted, until you start the graph generation process.

Upload disclosure materials

This step accepts documents or raw text that describe the invention: outlines, summaries, unstructured notes, invention disclosure forms, etc. These materials fuel the Invention Graph abstraction process.
